Alleged Leaks Surface for the Upcoming Jet Set Radio Remake
Rumors of a Jet Set Radio remake, confirmed by Sega last December, have been circulating for months. This remake is part of Sega's broader initiative to reintroduce classic titles to a new generation of gamers. While Sega has remained officially silent since the initial announcement at the 2023 Game Awards, leaks continue to surface.
A prominent Sega leaker, Midori (who has since deleted their social media accounts), has been a source of much of this information. According to reports attributed to Midori, Sega plans both a reboot (a live-service game with events and customization) and a separate remake. This remake, allegedly, will not feature the live-service elements.
New images, purportedly from the remake's development build, have appeared on Twitter, courtesy of user MSKAZZY69, who claims Midori as their source. These images include four screenshots—a map and several in-game scenes. MSKAZZY69 further claims the game is a "complete remake of the original, totally separate from the new one," describing it as an "open-world remake." This aligns with Midori's previous statements about graffiti, shooting mechanics, and an expanded Tokyo setting with a new storyline.
Jet Set Radio Remake Gameplay Video Emerges
In addition to the screenshots, a video purportedly showcasing gameplay has surfaced on YouTube. The video's art style and graphics are consistent with the screenshots, showing updated, more realistic character models and environments. The footage depicts protagonist Beat engaging in graffiti art, performing skate tricks, and exploring various Tokyo locations.
Despite the leaked material, the remake's release remains distant, with a projected launch date no earlier than 2026. The authenticity of both the images and video remains unconfirmed due to Midori's disappearance from social media.
