During "Into the Underworld," Katherine tasks you with finding Goatskin at the inn. While the game presents a complex path to corner him, we'll offer a much simpler solution.
Goatskin is hiding in plain sight – at the top of the barn adjacent to the Black Horse tavern. Access the barn behind the tailor's shop, then climb the ladder. Remember, this is a private area, so proceed discreetly.
Once on the upper floor, drop down into the courtyard. From there, climb onto the carriage and use it to reach the window leading into another barn. Make your way to the top level, and there he is! Important note: Goatskin only stays in this location during the day. He moves at night.
Before interacting with Goatskin, it's highly recommended to save your game. You'll need to pass several dialogue checks; failure might force you to pay a hefty sum to continue the quest. A successful check costs nothing, while failure will cost you 150 Groschen initially, rising to 500 Groschen if you fail again.
