Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower than Global Version

Authore: SophiaUpdate:Apr 27,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a unique pricing strategy that varies between Japan and the rest of the world. This next-generation gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System available globally. The Japanese version will retail at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System will be priced at $449.99, marking a significant $100+ price difference. This disparity is largely due to the current weakness of the yen against the USD, which impacts the cost-effectiveness of purchasing in Japan for tourists.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system is strictly available within Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japanese region. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For fans outside of Japan or those who prefer gaming in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
