Expected in a “Couple Years Down the Road”
Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced their intention to develop a sequel to the blockbuster action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels shared the company's strategic plans, as reported by Variety.
"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," Wiedenfels stated. He emphasized the significant growth potential of their gaming division, signaling high expectations for the upcoming sequel.
In an earlier interview with Variety, David Haddad from Warner Bros. Games highlighted the replayability of Hogwarts Legacy as a major factor in its success. "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once," he noted. Haddad also praised the game for allowing players to immerse themselves in the Harry Potter universe in a unique way. "It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story," he explained.
This personal connection and immersion into the wizarding world, according to Haddad, is what resonated deeply with the gaming community and propelled Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. "That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games, and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks," he added.
