Herta is a familiar face to Honkai: Star Rail players, with her long-awaited debut exciting many who have encountered her puppets in gameplay since the game's launch. Unlike characters like Fugue or Imbibitor Lunae, Herta maintains the same Ice element and Erudition path as her 4-star version, yet her playstyle differs significantly. Her kit focuses on accumulating Interpretation stacks through ally attacks, which greatly enhance her damage output.

The strongest lineup for Herta at launch pairs her with Jade, Robin, and Lingsha, as each member complements her kit perfectly. Herta thrives with allies who deliver frequent AoE attacks while maintaining skill point (SP) efficiency, and Jade excels as her Erudition partner. Jade not only amplifies Herta's damage but also triggers rapid follow-up attacks, especially when Herta is marked as a Debt Collector, enhancing stack generation.
For the remaining slots, a buffer support and a sustain unit are crucial. Lingsha is the top sustain choice, maintaining allies' HP—a key factor since Herta's HP is periodically drained as the Debt Collector. Lingsha’s AoE follow-up attacks further boost Herta’s stacks. Alternatively, Aventurine offers strong shielding, though his bouncing follow-up attack is less consistent for stack generation than Lingsha’s AoE. Other sustain options like Huo Huo or Fu Xuan provide valuable buffs, though their attack frequency is lower.

This free-to-play (F2P) team pairs Herta with her 4-star counterpart, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Gallagher for a fun and effective lineup. Among Erudition characters, the 4-star Herta is highly synergistic, allowing players to field both versions together. Her follow-up attacks trigger when enemies’ HP falls below 50%, which may be less frequent than Jade’s but still complements Herta’s Interpretation stacking. Serval is a solid 4-star alternative, with her AoE attacks aligning well with Herta’s mechanics.
