The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) has smashed a Guinness World Record! A 24-hour livestream marathon resulted in the opening of over 20,000 cards, setting a new benchmark for the longest unboxing livestream.
A Record-Breaking Unboxing Extravaganza
On November 26th, 2024, The Pokémon Company International celebrated the release of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion with a spectacular event. Popular online personalities, including Serebii’s Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, teamed up to open thousands of booster packs and other Pokémon products live on Twitch. The marathon, exceeding 24 hours, culminated in a staggering count of over 20,000 cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, highlighting the collaborative effort with content creators. He stated, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious Guinness World Records title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The collected cards will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo’s in the UK. Further giveaways are planned through the participating content creators' channels in the coming weeks.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks
The Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion, released November 8th, 2024, immerses players in the Terarium, a key location from the Indigo Disk DLC. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively strong Archaludon ex. Iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, and others make appearances.
