Take-Two Prioritizes New Game Development
Reliance on Legacy IPs is Unsustainable
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed investor concerns during the company's Q2 2025 call, acknowledging the company's reliance on established franchises like GTA and Red Dead Redemption (RDR). However, he emphasized the inherent risk of over-dependence on legacy IPs, highlighting the inevitable decline in their long-term appeal. As quoted by PCGamer, Zelnick stated that while sequels are lower-risk, "everything degrades," and even successful sequels eventually experience a decline. He warned against solely relying on existing titles, comparing it to "burning the furniture to heat the house."
