The Backstory of Spider-Woman in the World of Marvel Contest of Champions
Spider-Woman, originally named Jessica Drew, had a childhood marked by illness due to uranium exposure near her home. In a desperate bid to save her, her father, a brilliant geneticist, conducted a groundbreaking experiment. He injected her with a concoction of spider DNA, hoping to reverse her condition. After a lengthy recovery, Jessica not only overcame the adverse effects of the experiment but also gained remarkable spider-like powers, ultimately becoming Spider-Woman. Fans can add this new champion to their roster starting April 17th.
Before Spider-Woman's arrival, players will encounter another intriguing champion on April 9th. Lumatrix, one of the most formidable assassins created by the Founders, boasts flashy light-based powers designed for infiltration and elimination, adding a thrilling edge to the game.
What Else Is New?
On the narrative front, Act 9 Chapter 2, titled "Inquisition," unfolds with Carina severely injured after a confrontation with Ouroborus forces. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom collaborates with the Fantastic Four to combat the spreading corruption of Chronoserpent. A new villain, Lotan, also emerges, adding depth to the storyline.
A new Event Quest, "Spy Games," kicks off on April 9th and runs until May 7th. Black Widow delves into the enigmatic Eidols, enlisting Spider-Woman's help to unravel the mystery.
Dark Phoenix returns in the Side Quest with "Dark Bounties," placing bounties on various Champions. Players must track them down to claim their rewards.
The "Incursions: Dark Phoenix Saga Sector" also makes a comeback, challenging players to assemble their strongest Saga champions to earn Dark Plumes, Light Essence, Tier 7 Basic Fragments, and 7-Star Class Signature Stones.
