A notable change in Elden Ring: Nightreign is the removal of the in-game message feature. Director Junya Ishizaki clarified that the approximately forty-minute play sessions are too short to accommodate message sending and reading. He stated, "We disabled the messaging feature because there isn't enough time for sending or reading messages during sessions, which last approximately forty minutes."
