Dune: Awakening hasn't officially launched yet, but it has already reached a concurrent player record on Steam of nearly 100,000 players.
Steam's official data shows that Dune: Awakening hit a peak of 93,634 concurrent players on June 5, even though the game is currently only available to "head start" players who purchased either the $69.99 Deluxe Edition or the $89.99 Ultimate Edition. For everyone else, the game officially releases on June 10, 2025.
While concurrent player count isn't the only measure of a game's success, it provides a useful initial indicator—though it doesn't capture players on other platforms. Dune: Awakening isn't available on consoles yet; the PS5 and Xbox Series versions are scheduled to release at a later date.
Historically, weekends tend to see the highest player engagement, so Dune: Awakening may reach an even higher concurrent peak before its full launch on June 10. Among the thousands of titles on Steam, it currently ranks 195th in the all-time concurrent player rankings—an impressive achievement for a game still in early access.
We haven't reviewed Dune: Awakening yet, but we spent significant time with the game during its beta phase. "As a longtime fan of the Dune universe, it's thrilling to explore and uncover more about this beloved world. Funcom has poured enormous effort into worldbuilding and lore, even while taking creative liberties by setting Awakening in a parallel reality separate from the books and films," we noted in IGN's Dune: Awakening closed beta impressions preview.
"Small details have a major impact on gameplay. Without diving into spoilers, this meticulous attention extends to nearly every part of the world, including the factions and characters you encounter—something that will delight any fan of the series."
