A Decade-Long Development
The journey to Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and intricate one, spanning nearly a decade. Development kicked off in 2015 right after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, the project—initially codenamed "Joplin"—faced numerous delays as BioWare shifted focus to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, pulling resources and talent away. The initial design also didn't fit with BioWare's move towards live-service games, leading to a complete halt in development.
It wasn't until 2018 that the project was revived under the new codename "Morrison." After years of dedication and hard work, the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before being renamed to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Despite the challenges and delays, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Mark your calendars and prepare to return to Thedas for an unforgettable adventure!
