DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series launching May 2025, bringing acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC. Slott, known for The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel run, previously contributing to titles like Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.
Superman Unlimited pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott states, “He’s the first and greatest superhero, and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tell stories about him…Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes too…you couldn’t ask for a better place to take the leap and go all in than Superman Unlimited #1.”
The series introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower arms Intergang with Kryptonite weapons, forcing Superman to develop new technology and tactics. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia conglomerate after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman, stating Superman Unlimited will deliver "big, fun, high-flying adventures," while introducing a massive new Kryptonite deposit. He describes a world where "Superman is stopping a bank robbery, but every weapon is packed with Kryptonite ammunition…unlimited danger…never faced before.” Kaminski contrasts this with the Justice League Unlimited series, highlighting Superman Unlimited’s focus on Kryptonite-empowered super-villains.
A 10-page prelude appears in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), with Superman Unlimited #1 launching May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film (July 11).
