Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in New Video Celebrating 10M RE4 Players

Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in a celebratory video released on April 25, 2025, marking the impressive milestone of 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. The video, shared on social media, features Ada Wong conversing with a well-known villain, followed by scenes of Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats as they approach a church.

The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and Leon energetically fist-pumping. In the background, a rustic sign displays the message "Thank you for playing."

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something intriguing when the sign is turned on its side: the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While it could be dismissed as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem pointed out that the lower plank on the sign was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting its inclusion was deliberate.

"I know what you did here," one surprised fan commented, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

PlayCapcom has also confirmed that *Resident Evil 9*, the next installment in the mainline series, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed *Resident Evil 7*. Nakanishi shared his thoughts on the project, saying, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Although not officially confirmed, rumors suggest the game may be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
