How to Find the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

Authore: ChloeUpdate:Mar 22,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds simplifies many series mechanics, minimizing the need for extensive monster tracking. However, one exception remains: the Black Flame. Here's how to locate it.

Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

Around the midpoint of Monster Hunter Wilds' main story, Chapter 3 introduces the Black Flame, which vanishes into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission: find and defeat it.

Exit Base Camp and head towards Zone 9 of the Oilwell Basin (see map below).

Along the way, you'll discover tar tracks. Examining them reveals the Black Flame's trail, automatically guiding your scoutflies. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies in Zone 9, leading to a large flaming crater, where the Black Flame awaits.

The Black Flame (Nu Udra) is a tentacled beast wielding fire-based attacks. Strategically targeting and severing its tentacles first simplifies the battle, granting better access to weak points and increased material rewards.

To counter the region's intense heat, carry several Cool Drinks to prevent continuous health loss.
