Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile

In an unexpected twist, Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of *PAC-MAN Mobile*, a beloved mobile adaptation of the legendary icon celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has captivated fans with its blend of classic arcade charm and modern features.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were halted on April 1st, allowing players to continue enjoying the game until its final day. Many loyal fans have voiced their disappointment over the decision, suggesting that an offline version could have kept the game alive while generating additional revenue.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, originally titled PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered much more than nostalgia. It combined the timeless 8-bit arcade experience with innovative modes like Story Mode, featuring countless original mazes to explore. Adventure Mode introduced limited-time themed events, complete with exclusive skins for players to collect. Additionally, Tournament Mode challenged users with weekly maze puzzles across three difficulty levels, along with customizable skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick.

The Reason Behind the Closure

Despite its initial success, the game has struggled in recent years due to ongoing technical issues and bugs. These persistent problems likely played a significant role in Bandai Namco’s decision to discontinue the title.

Remember the excitement during its early days on Android? Players eagerly chased high scores and climbed leaderboards, creating a vibrant community around the game. For those who wish to relive the experience one last time, PAC-MAN Mobile remains available for download via the Google Play Store.
