Atelier Yumia: Memory Alchemist's Land Synthesis Guide

Authore: OliverUpdate:Apr 16,2025

One of the most intricate elements of *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is central to nearly every aspect of the game. Every resource you gather and weapon you forge is intricately linked to it. Here's how to optimize your Synthesis experience.

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

In Atelier Yumia, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:

  • Regular Synthesis: Performed at an Alchemist’s altar, this is used to craft weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials needed for Synthesis. You unlock the Atelier early in the game, which serves as your primary Synthesis hub. Additionally, you can build Simple Altars on cleared manabound zones and campsites to perform regular Synthesis.
  • Simple Synthesis: Accessible via the radial menu outside of battle, this allows you to craft items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and repair kits for treasure chests and ladders, provided you have the necessary resources.
  • Building Synthesis: Available in certain plots of land through the radial menu, this involves crafting storage chests and wall hangings. Though not explicitly labeled as Synthesis, the game often refers to it as such.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia

Regular Synthesis at altars is the most complex aspect of the mechanic. To craft an item like a gun staff for Yumia, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. Find the Recipe: Explore the world to discover recipes.
  2. Upgrade Recipes: Use particles from mana fountains at a Recipe Recall Station to enhance existing recipes.
  3. At the Alchemist’s Altar:
    • Select the type of gun staff you want to create.
    • Choose Synthesis Skills if unlocked in the skill tree.
    • Select the initial Alchemy Core:
      • Effects Alchemy Core: Enhances selected skills.
      • Quality Alchemy Core: Boosts the quality level of the item.
      • Trait Alchemy Core: Increases the number of Trait Crystal slots.
    • Fill the slots of each Alchemy Core with collected resources.
    • Collect mana fragments to further increase the item's quality.
    • Synthesize the item.

Unlocking Synthesis Skills early from the skill tree is crucial as they provide significant boosts to damage and quality, and allow you to duplicate items, conserving resources.

To maximize item quality, you can add resources to all three Alchemy Cores by using the left or right bumper while filling the slots. Collecting mana fragments (yellow sparkles) for all cores will greatly enhance the item's strength, which is advisable unless crafting a quest item.

When selecting resources, prioritize those that match the element type of the specific slots, identifiable by a blue outline. You can also organize your resources in the submenu to prioritize higher-quality items, although sometimes focusing on effects might be more beneficial.

If the complexity of manual Synthesis feels overwhelming, you can opt for the auto-Synthesis feature after selecting your Synthesis Skills. This feature helps create powerful items with minimal effort, enabling you to tackle even the final boss on Normal difficulty without much trouble.

And that's everything you need to know to master the Synthesis mechanic in Atelier Yumia.
