Atelier Resleriana Shuts Down in Late March

Authore: AvaUpdate:May 23,2025

Koei Tecmo has announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just a year after its global launch. The service termination will see in-game purchases halted on January 27th, with all operations concluding on March 28th. In the meantime, the developers have planned various events to allow players to savor the remaining time with the game.

The decision to shut down stems from the developers' recognition that they could not maintain the quality standards they initially set. Despite ongoing efforts to enhance the game through updates and events, they determined that sustaining operations was no longer feasible. Players can continue to use Lodestar Gems for in-game activities until the shutdown, though they can no longer be purchased.

For many fans of Atelier Resleriana, this news might not be entirely unexpected. The highly competitive gacha market, filled with numerous games vying for players' attention, posed significant challenges for new entries like Atelier Resleriana. Despite its innovative concepts, the game grappled with several critical issues.

Criticism was rife regarding the gacha mechanics and banner rates, which left many players feeling stymied in their progression. The alchemy system, a hallmark of the Atelier series, failed to inspire the expected level of creativity and engagement. Additionally, the gameplay, while functional, did not offer enough excitement to stand out against other strong contenders in the genre.

From the outset, Atelier Resleriana faced an uphill struggle, and looking back, the signs of its eventual closure were perhaps evident. Social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit have seen an outpouring of requests for an offline version of the game, though such a development seems unlikely at this point. If you've enjoyed this turn-based RPG, make the most of the final months before the adventure concludes.
