Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam
A Steam leak has revealed details about the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the first game in the franchise set in Japan, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been marked by delays and controversy, but anticipation remains high for its March 20, 2025 release.
According to Insider Gaming, a now-removed Steam update revealed "Claws of Awaji" will include:
- A new region: Expanding the already expansive world of 16th-century Japan.
- A new weapon type: Adding fresh combat options for players.
- New skills, gear, and abilities: Enhancing character customization and gameplay.
- Over 10 hours of additional content: Substantially increasing the game's overall playtime.
The leak also indicated that pre-ordering Assassin's Creed Shadows will grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.
Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future
This leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. Ubisoft cited the need for further polishing and refinement. This delay, along with rumors of a potential Tencent buyout, adds to the uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, following mixed reception for recent titles like XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
