Apple recently launched the iPhone 16e, its newest entry-level model, succeeding the iPhone SE. Pre-orders begin Friday, February 21st, with general availability on February 28th.
A Key First: Apple's C1 Modem
The iPhone 16e is notable for incorporating Apple's own C1 cellular modem. This marks a significant step for Apple, leveraging its in-house chip design expertise. The success of the C1 will be crucial, impacting connectivity performance. Apple will hopefully avoid past connectivity issues like those experienced with the iPhone 4 ("Antennagate").
Design and Display: Familiar Territory
Visually, the iPhone 16e closely resembles the iPhone 14 from the front, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2532x1170 resolution and 1200-nit peak brightness.
