Ubisoft Mainz offers a glimpse into Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, with a recently unveiled trailer. Initial reports highlighted exploration across Lazio and Albion; however, the new preview suggests Lazio serves as an introductory region before players embark on the main adventure in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio's initial tranquility is shattered by a catastrophic event, forcing players to seek refuge in the uncharted territories of Britain (Albion). Albion presents formidable challenges: a harsh climate, hostile tribes, and its geographical remoteness from Rome create significant governance hurdles.
Players govern as a Roman official, tasked with navigating these difficulties through diplomacy as well as force. Respecting local customs is key to establishing peaceful relations. A notable gameplay element is the customizable ship design, allowing strategic choices between speed enhancements (via oarsmen) and increased offensive capabilities (with archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
