History of the Game

Initially known as the Stencil Design IQ Test, the game originated with Grace Arthur, Ph.D., an early 20th-century psychologist. Recognizing the importance of non-verbal skills in overall intelligence, she developed the test to assess the IQ of Native American and deaf children who performed poorly on traditional verbal IQ tests. The results demonstrated their intellectual capabilities were on par with their educated American counterparts.

What's in the Game?

Stenciletto features two game types: Classic Games, based on Grace Arthur's original geometric stencils (squares, circles, triangles, crosses, etc.), and World Games, designed as more challenging extensions for players seeking a greater cognitive hurdle. The game boasts over 600 graded puzzles, with a free set of 60 puzzles available to try. Each paid game comprises 15 puzzles. Completing Classic Games rewards players with animated Smileys—characters from history and mythology representing diverse cultures—offering a fun way to track progress.

Multiple game modes are available:

• Mortal Mode: The default mode; purchase lives or wait for regeneration. Timed and scored, with leaderboards.
• Immortal Mode: Unlimited lives; replenish your life bank as needed. Timed and scored, with leaderboards.
• Mindful Mode: Untimed and unscored, allowing for relaxed, unhurried puzzle-solving.
• Education Mode: Unlocks both Immortal and Mindful Modes (Mortal Mode can be disabled).
