Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, requiring players to master game mechanics. Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a significant hurdle, demanding proficiency in combat, abilities, and strategic movement.

Defeating Gyalva: A Strategic Approach

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health (Normal): 1200

Following Guilen's defeat, players encounter Gyalva. The key to victory lies in utilizing the limited battlefield: the bridge. Fighting from either end of the bridge significantly improves survivability.

The constantly shifting bridge requires nimble platforming and quick attacks. Utilize wind magic for efficient damage bursts while strategically repositioning to avoid Gyalva's attacks.

Understanding Gyalva's Attacks

Gyalva, a unique boss not present in the original Ys III, possesses a diverse attack arsenal capable of inflicting substantial damage. He utilizes fiery attacks and bridge manipulation to keep players on their toes. Sufficient character upgrades (aim for level 21) and equipment enhancements are crucial for success.

Spinning Attacks (Two Variations)

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks:

  1. Partial Bridge Spin: Gyalva sweeps across a section of the bridge, launching plates into the air. Evade by moving to the unaffected side.
  2. Full Bridge Spin: Gyalva traverses the entire bridge, causing all plates to flip. The only safe position is at either end of the bridge.

Avoid being cornered at the bridge's edge. Maintain mobility, striking Gyalva before retreating to a safe ledge.

Fire Blast

Gyalva launches a fireball, sending bridge plates airborne. While this attack causes damage, it also presents an opportunity to land several hits.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge sporadically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball chain reaction. The timing is unpredictable, but once a burst subsides, the area becomes safe to traverse. Patience and observation are key here.
