Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the event and the first Xbox game showcase of the new year. Initially launched in January 2023, the Xbox Developer Direct quickly became a staple, providing previews of upcoming Xbox titles.
The 2025 event is set for January 23rd, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating online.

The showcase will feature three confirmed titles. South of Midnight, a stylish action-adventure from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), originally revealed in June 2023, is expected to finally receive a release date. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 launch, will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title. Finally, Doom: The Dark Ages from id Software, announced in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024, is rumored for a mid-2025 release.
While these three are confirmed, previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Therefore, additional surprises are likely in store for viewers.
