Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or use the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer near a board game. This game isn't mandatory for combat but is crucial for buff removal. Players control black pieces, the Lifer controls white. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls/gates in that direction. You can exit and resume the game at any time. Winning before buff removal is not advised.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using Stake of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% ATK increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance, stacking up to 4 times (resets after 6 seconds without dealing DMG).
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Obtaining the Stakes of Imbalance

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to four outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow), often requiring minor challenges (defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks). Place each Stake in the module near the corresponding winged statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow once a buff is removed.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Without these buffs, the Lifer is significantly weaker. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. Multiple victories yield progressively better rewards (Premium and Advanced Supply Chests). You can re-enable buffs for a harder fight, but there are no achievements tied to this.

Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves to create a winning line. The Lifer will eventually make a mistake.
