Hot on the heels of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo has launched another exciting addition to the musou genre with Warriors: Abyss, a captivating roguelite that features beloved characters from the Warriors series. Released today, this game offers a fresh take on the genre, promising an enthralling experience for fans.
Showcased during today's PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss allows players to form a squad of iconic characters and battle through endless waves of enemies. The game adopts an isometric camera perspective, drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and the Greek mythology-themed roguelite, Hades. Players will navigate through the depths of "hell," confronting demonic foes along the way. Today's footage highlighted characters such as Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang from various Warriors titles.
According to the PlayStation Blog, players can recruit and add new characters to their team over time, enhancing their summoning capabilities. At launch, players can utilize up to seven active heroes in combat, with a roster of 100 warriors available today.
Koei Tecmo has plans to expand the character lineup post-launch, beginning with additions from the Jin kingdom in Dynasty Warriors. The developer hinted at future waves of characters, suggesting that there may even be heroes from outside the Warriors series joining the fray.
Warriors: Abyss is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It will also launch on Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025. Players interested in the in-game Dynasty Warriors Costume Set should purchase the game before March 14, 2025.
