"World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Release"

Summary

  • The Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has been delayed due to unexpected issues.
  • No new estimated launch time has been provided.
  • Players can engage in other activities in WoW while waiting for Plunderstorm.

World of Warcraft enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer for the return of the second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen complications. The developers aim to have Plunderstorm live before the end of January 14, 2025, but no precise timing has been confirmed yet.

Introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, Plunderstorm is a thrilling pirate-themed battle royale mode. It was set to relaunch on January 14, 2025, promising both classic and fresh rewards for players to claim. However, the event's rollout encountered hurdles, extending the planned six-hour maintenance to eight hours. Servers were expected to be back online by 3 PM PST, but according to a forum update from WoW community manager Kaivax, "unexpected issues" have further delayed Plunderstorm's availability.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

  • Before the end of January 14, once the "unexpected issues" are resolved

In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational, allowing players to dive into other in-game activities. You can tackle your Siren Isle weeklies, kick off the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or explore other adventures in The War Within.

The second iteration of Plunderstorm brings new elements to the table, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. It's speculated that these additions might be behind the current delays, but the WoW team is working to resolve these issues swiftly so players can resume their plundering adventures.

Despite the delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are already available. By watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST, players can secure the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Note that the streamer doesn't necessarily have to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to earn this reward, allowing fans to start collecting while they wait for the event to go live.
