Speak with Casper and Havel
To start "In Vino Veritas," you'll need to speak with Casper Rudolf, who you can find by his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Just enter through the east gate and head straight; you can't miss him. Casper is eager to uncover the secret behind the monks' superior wine, but you'll need to follow several steps to unlock this mystery. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and a crucial book he left with Adleta. This information will guide your approach in impressing Havel.
If you decide to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg’s inner wall during the morning or afternoon. Look for an open garden where Adleta spends her time. Before you go, pick five Marigolds. Try to find her before her brother, Hugo, arrives, or if Hugo is already there, get his permission to speak with her. Be kind to Adleta and explain that you need the book for Casper. You can attempt a skill check to persuade her to give you the book or offer the Marigolds as a gift in exchange for it. Once you have the book, read it from your inventory.
Alternatively, you can skip the book and go directly to Havel, who runs an inn in Kuttenberg City. Prepare by enhancing your drinking skills and wearing an outfit that boosts your Charisma to at least 18. When you talk to Havel at the inn, choose these dialogue options:
- Germany. Let’s do it.
- That’s a very fine gift.
- Steinberger.
- It’s missing ginger.
These choices will impress Havel, prompting him to reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Return to Casper with this information.
Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient
Next, head to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg and speak with the recruiter to begin the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While completing this side quest isn't necessary, starting it allows you to explore the vineyard freely. Inside, find Jerome, usually sitting on a bench by the main building.
Once inside the main building, sneak to the left and enter the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks, which are crucial for Casper. For some extra Groschen, head to the garden behind the main building and take five seedlings before leaving.
If you choose to complete "Under the Straw Hat," engage in tasks like clearing plants around the vines and moving sacks. After completing enough work, report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and any seedlings you collected.
Completing "In Vino Veritas" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 allows you to move on to other quests or enjoy other in-game activities like collecting badges and dice.
