Following a minor leak last week, EA has officially announced the title of its upcoming Star Wars game, along with the developer behind it. The game, named Star Wars: Zero Company, is being crafted by Bit Reactor, with additional support from Lucasfilm Games and Respawn.
The first and only (so far) official art for Zero Company.
Although details about Star Wars: Zero Company are currently scarce, we do know that it will be a "single-player turn-based tactics game." Fans won't have to wait long for more insights, as EA has promised a first look at the game on April 19 at Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Bit Reactor, the developer, is a newly-established strategy game studio, founded in 2022. It comprises industry veterans from renowned titles such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online. While it was known that Bit Reactor was collaborating with Respawn on a Star Wars project, this is the first time we've received concrete details about what they're working on.
As for Respawn's role, the specifics of their involvement remain somewhat unclear. The studio has faced significant challenges recently, including the cancellation of their own Star Wars FPS project last year, alongside widespread layoffs at EA, and the termination of another multiplayer FPS incubation project just last month.
More information about Star Wars: Zero Company will be unveiled at a live panel on Saturday, April 19 at 4:30pm local time in Japan. For U.S. viewers, this translates to an inconvenient 12:30am PT and 3:30am ET, so make sure to set your alarms if you don't want to miss out.
