Squid Game: Unleashed set to receive new characters and events to celebrate season two of the show

Authore: PenelopeUpdate:Jan 20,2025

Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two of the hit Netflix show with a wave of fresh content! Get ready for new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who watch the new episodes.

Netflix's surprising holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed—a battle royale game inspired by the Korean drama—was free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike. Now, with this new content drop, they're cleverly incentivizing non-users to sign up by offering enticing rewards for watching Season Two!

What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a map inspired by the Season Two mini-game "Mingle" will debut. Playable avatars Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos (not the Marvel villain!) will also be added throughout January.

Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. Viewers of Season Two will earn in-game Cash and Wild Tokens; watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive "Binni Binge-Watcher" outfit!

Here's the January content calendar for Squid Game: Unleashed:

  • January 3rd: New "Mingle" map launches. Geum-Ja's "Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event" begins, challenging players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins (runs until January 9th).
  • January 9th: Thanos arrives with his "Thanos’ Red Light Challenge" recruitment event. Players earn him by eliminating opponents using knives (runs until January 14th).
  • January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final character addition in this update.

Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. Offering free access was a bold move, but rewarding subscribers and encouraging viewing is a shrewd strategy to boost both the game and the show's popularity.
