The Sims franchise is marking its 25th anniversary with much fanfare, and while Electronic Arts has outlined a roadmap for the celebration, there appears to be more in store. Recently, The Sims released a teaser filled with nods to the initial entries in the series, sparking speculation among fans about the possible return of these classic titles. Although there's no official word yet, insiders at Kotaku hint that by week's end, EA and Maxis Games could unveil digital PC versions of The Sims 1 and 2, complete with all their original expansion packs.
Should these rumors hold true, the burning question is whether a console release will follow, and if so, when. Given the lucrative potential of tapping into fans' nostalgia, it seems improbable that EA would overlook such an opportunity.
Originally launched years ago, The Sims 1 and 2 have become challenging to access legally today. A revival of these beloved games would surely thrill the franchise's dedicated fanbase.
