EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is officially being discontinued. After a twelve-year run, the game, initially launched in 2012 on the App Store and 2013 on Google Play, will be saying goodbye.
Shutdown Timeline:
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. However, existing players can continue playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will shut down permanently. EA expressed gratitude to its players for their decade-long support.
One Last Chance to Experience Springfield?
For those unfamiliar, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a city-building game where players rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown. Players manage the town, interact with iconic characters (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Fat Tony, etc.), unlock costumes (like Daredevil Bart), expand to Springfield Heights, and even run Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
The freemium game frequently released updates tied to the show and holidays. Donuts serve as the in-game currency to accelerate progress.
If you're interested in a final playthrough before the servers close, download The Simpsons: Tapped Out from the Google Play Store. Don't forget to check out our article on eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, another mobile game launching this fall!
