Serial Cleaner tasks you with cleaning up crime scenes while under the influence of a moustache

Authore: AndrewUpdate:Jan 16,2025

Serial Cleaner, the quirky crime-scene cleanup puzzler, is making a comeback! Originally released in 2019, this title is returning, but the extent of its revamp remains a mystery. Will it be a polished re-release or simply a modernized port? Only time will tell.

The game transports you to the gritty, yet comical, 1970s – a decade vividly depicted in film as a time of urban decay, stylish gangs, improbable occurrences (like turkeys falling from the sky!), and even killer sharks. In Serial Cleaner, you play Bob Leaner, a professional crime-scene cleaner tasked with the rather unusual job of disposing of bodies, cleaning up blood, and erasing all evidence of mob violence – all while evading the police.

Our previous review in 2019 (by Harry Slater) described the original as having potential but being somewhat unfinished. Developer Plug-In Digital is now self-publishing this mobile version, offering a chance for a second act.

A Retro Revival?

Available for pre-registration now, with a February 11th, 2025 release date, the extent of the improvements remains unclear. While significant enhancements would be welcome, given the time elapsed since the initial launch, substantial changes might be optimistic.

The core concept of Serial Cleaner remains undeniably captivating. However, the seemingly straightforward mobile re-release dampens some of the excitement. Nevertheless, Android users who missed out, or those experiencing compatibility issues with older iOS versions, might consider this an early gift.
