God of War's Glauco Longhi Hints at a New IP
A Sci-Fi Game in the Works?
Glauco Longhi, a character artist and developer known for his work on God of War (2018) and Ragnarok, has hinted at a new IP in development at Santa Monica Studio. His updated LinkedIn profile reveals his return to the studio earlier this year to oversee character development for an "unannounced project," specifically focusing on "character development pipeline" improvements.
Longhi's profile states: "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."
Adding fuel to the fire, Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog (director of the 2018 God of War reboot), previously indicated the studio was working on multiple projects. Longhi's LinkedIn profile also highlights active recruitment efforts, including searches for a character artist and tools programmer, suggesting significant expansion and ongoing development.
Speculation points towards a new sci-fi IP, possibly under the direction of God of War 3's creative director, Stig Asmussen. While unconfirmed, Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year further fuels this theory. Past rumors of a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio also add to the intrigue.
