Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids!

This Fashion Week: Taken Over event in Pokémon GO marks a significant change: for the first time, remote raid passes will be usable in Shadow Raids! This limited-time opportunity allows trainers to catch powerful Pokémon with boosted IV stats from the comfort of their homes.

The event runs from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time. Trainers can participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely or in person. This includes a special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. local time), offering increased shiny Shadow Ho-Oh encounter rates and the chance to teach it Sacred Fire. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove Frustration from Shadow Pokémon.

This highly requested feature, introduced in 2023, will be temporary. Post-event, remote raid passes will no longer function in Shadow Raids. While the future of remote Shadow Raids remains uncertain, this trial period addresses previous criticism regarding the difficulty of in-person participation in challenging raids, particularly those involving Dynamax and Gigantamax battles. Many fans hope this proves a successful test and leads to permanent implementation.
