Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign offering permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide details how to locate and activate this crucial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter, granting +10% Lightning Resistance, appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Its in-game icon is easily overlooked on the world map. The encounter's location within the Spires of Deshar map is randomly generated, requiring thorough exploration. Look for a shrine resembling the image above. Interacting with it triggers the buff, but also activates nearby metallic automatons. To avoid backtracking, use the checkpoint near the shrine after reaching the exit checkpoint.
Activating the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied immediately upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is instantaneous. Complete the encounter in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel to gain a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Showing Correctly
Many players are confused when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, after completing Act 1, the initial +10% Lightning Resistance from the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 neutralizes the debuff. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the cumulative debuff, resulting in a net reduction. To verify the buff's effectiveness, unequip all gear and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that all campaign buffs are correctly applied.
