*League of Legends* enthusiasts have a new treat with the introduction of a minigame called Demon's Hand in the client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the mechanics of Demon's Hand quite similar. Let's dive into how you can start playing and master this engaging card game.
League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started
To begin your adventure with Demon's Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. You'll be introduced to the storyline and then thrust into your first round of the card game.

On the game screen, your hand is displayed along the bottom row of cards. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above that, there's the Sigil box, where you can have up to six Sigils active at once, though you start with none. Remember, your health won't regenerate after each battle; you'll need to visit tent locations on the map to restore a percentage of your health.
The enemy is represented by the top card, with its health and damage displayed in the bottom right and left corners, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll notice an attack coin, indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book detailing all possible hands you can play and their base damage for a standard round.
How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

To deal damage to the enemy, you'll play poker hands, which are renamed in Demon’s Hand but follow the same concept. The ultimate goal is to play The Demon’s Hand, which is equivalent to a royal flush. Here’s a rundown of the hands you can play and their corresponding poker terminology:
- Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
- Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
- Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
- Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
- Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
- March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
- Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
- Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
- Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
- The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)
The base damage of each hand is augmented by the numerical value of the cards played. However, if the enemy has a special ability that negates a specific suit, those cards will be crossed out, and their value won't be added to the base damage, though you can still play them.
Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils
Sigils are key to enhancing your strategy. You purchase them during store phases, indicated by coins on the map, which you earn by defeating enemies. Each Sigil offers a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils amplify specific hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others can provide benefits such as extra turns before the enemy attacks or reducing the damage you receive.
That's everything you need to know to play the Demon's Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to see what exciting content awaits in Summoner's Rift.
