Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Exclusive Showcase at Game Worlds in Australia

As one of the most eagerly awaited titles in gaming, Hollow Knight: Silksong will be featured as part of ACMI's new video game exhibition titled Game Worlds, opening September 18, 2025, and running through February 8, 2026. The playable version showcased at the museum may offer a significantly more refined experience compared to the early demo shown back at E3 2019, which was described by many as more of a “proof of concept” than a full playable build.
The Game Worlds exhibit will feature several iconic games such as World of Warcraft, The Sims, and a number of Australian-developed titles. Each display will include exclusive custom builds, original design documents, concept art, and key artifacts from the development process.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet—and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Since its debut in 2019, updates about Silksong have been minimal, fueling fan speculation and rumor mills regarding its release date and gameplay features. The Game Worlds exhibit aims to provide a deeper insight into the development and artistic direction of Team Cherry’s highly anticipated sequel.
The curators further explained that the Silksong section of the exhibit will explore the intricacies behind the game’s creation. They noted, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights—and of course, having the game playable in-gallery—our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game’s artistic direction and design."

While the Australian exhibit could hint at a potential launch window, no official release date has been confirmed yet. Notably, Silksong made a recent appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, where a 2025 release window was mentioned. Since the ACMI exhibit runs until early 2026, fans are hopeful that the game might launch sometime during or shortly after the event’s duration.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms. Stay tuned to our coverage for the latest updates and announcements surrounding the game’s development and release.
