Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Welcomes Four Retro Gems
Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo has unveiled four SNES titles from the early 90s, offering diverse gameplay: beat 'em up action, intense racing, challenging puzzles, and competitive dodgeball.
First, the iconic crossover, Battletoads/Double Dragon, unites the brawling Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers against the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993 and ported to SNES in December 1993, this marks a long-awaited re-release for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West) brings the River City Ransom star, Kunio-kun, to a dodgeball showdown. Compete against global rivals in diverse arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each with unique challenges.
This Super Famicom title originally launched in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, a strategic puzzle game reminiscent of Tetris and Puyo Puyo. Clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo), VS Mode (head-to-head), and 100 Stage Mode (increasing difficulty). Line up containers horizontally and utilize blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially released in arcades in 1992, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle later appeared on Super Famicom, various Virtual Consoles, and more recently, the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Finally, experience the high-octane racing of Big Run. Race across diverse African landscapes, from Tripoli to West Africa's swamps, across nine challenging stages. Strategic decision-making is key; choose your sponsor, build your team, and manage resources carefully to overcome mechanical failures and beat the clock.
