Nintendo Is Shutting Down Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp!

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is shutting down! Yes, you read that correctly. Nintendo has announced the end of service (EOS) for the popular mobile game, leaving many players surprised. Let's explore the details.

The End is Nigh: November 28th, 2024

Online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will cease on November 28th, 2024. Make the most of your cozy campsite before then! Ironically, this coincides with the game's seventh anniversary on November 21st.

Leaf Tickets will no longer be available after November 26th, and Pocket Camp Club auto-renewals end October 28th. Existing memberships won't be refunded, but you'll receive a commemorative badge.

The final online farewell will be on November 28th at 7:00 AM PST.

A Silver Lining: Offline Play Awaits!

While online services are ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be removed, the core gameplay will remain. Your saved data will carry over, allowing continued play without an internet connection. More details on this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.

This closure is part of a larger trend by Nintendo to scale back its mobile game offerings. Following the shutdowns of Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, and the maintenance mode for Mario Kart Tour, the Pocket Camp news is sadly not entirely unexpected.
