Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a delay in the general retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is postponed indefinitely. This delay is attributed to current production and inventory challenges. The impact on international availability (with a planned March 2025 general release) remains unclear.
In the interim, Nintendo Japan will offer a pre-order system exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan. Pre-orders are slated to begin in mid-December, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately.
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring iconic melodies from franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and Ring Fit Adventure (with future updates promised), launched globally in October. Its unexpected popularity led to the halting of online orders and a lottery system for online purchases. Physical units also sold out rapidly in Japanese and New York Nintendo stores.
Further updates regarding pre-orders and the rescheduled general release will be shared as they become available.
