Marvel fans eager to see more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the MCU will have to wait a bit longer, as a second season of the Disney+ show isn't on the immediate horizon. In a recent interview with ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, shared that while there are future plans for the character, they won't involve a direct continuation of the 2022 series.
The shift in strategy at Marvel Television since Moon Knight's release marks a significant change in direction. Initially, the focus was on using TV shows to introduce characters that would later play roles in broader MCU projects, as seen with Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel leading into her appearance in The Marvels. However, Marvel Television has now pivoted towards a more traditional TV model, aiming for annual releases of shows that stand more independently.
Winderbaum elaborated on this new approach, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While Oscar Isaac reprised his role as Moon Knight in the animated series Marvel's What If…?, there's no confirmation yet on his return in live-action. Meanwhile, Marvel's upcoming TV slate is packed with exciting projects, including Daredevil: Born Again premiering in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December.
In other news, Marvel Television has reportedly paused production on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at potential future projects, including the possibility of reuniting the street-level heroes from the Netflix series, known collectively as The Defenders.
