"Mastering Rune Slayer Fishing: A Beginner's Guide"

Authore: JackUpdate:Apr 12,2025

If you had any doubt that *Rune Slayer* isn’t an MMORPG, here’s your proof: it has fishing. And as we all know, if a game has fishing, it’s officially an MMORPG. Kidding aside, you’re here to learn how fishing works in *Rune Slayer*, and we’re here to help. Yeah, we had trouble with this, too, but we eventually figured it out and are happy to tell you how to catch fish in *Rune Slayer*. Spoiler Alert: It definitely isn’t as intuitive as in *Fisch*.

Before you cast your line in Rune Slayer, make sure to accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman. This white-haired NPC can be found at one of the piers where the Baracuda is swimming. Simon tasks you with catching 5 "fish," and in return, he'll reward you with a Tackle Box (we'll explain the quotation marks later).

Here’s the catch: to start fishing, you'll need a fishing rod and some bait/tackle, conveniently sold by none other than Simon the Fisherman.

Head over to Simon and purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and some Worms. Most players suggest having at least 5 worms, but we recommend buying 10 to be on the safe side. No, you cannot equip the bait. The Worms simply need to be in your inventory, and they'll be automatically used when you catch a fish. Each successful catch will remove one Worm from your inventory.

The crucial part is: you won’t catch any fish unless you have at least 5 bait items. We tried with just one Worm and came up empty-handed. It was only after having 5 Worms in our inventory that we started catching aquatic creatures. We suggest keeping the Worms in your hotbar to monitor your supply easily. Once you’re equipped, you're ready for the next step.

First, select your Wood Fishing Rod. You can’t equip it in the traditional sense, so just move it to your hotbar or access it from your inventory, and your character will ready it.

Hold M1 to cast your line into a body of water (the pier next to Simon the Fisherman is a great spot).

Now, keep an eye on the bobber. When you see one or two ripples, click M1 again to reel in your catch. It's that simple.

Be aware, this method doesn’t guarantee a catch every time. Often, you won’t catch anything, and other times, you might pull up junk. The good news is Simon counts junk as a "fish" (hence the earlier quotation marks).

So, cast your line, wait for the ripples, hit M1, and reel in anything five times. We managed to catch only two actual fish, with the rest being Old Cups.

Once you’ve caught 5 "fish," return to Simon the Fisherman to complete the quest. He'll reward you with a tackle box. Open it and store your remaining worms inside to free up inventory space.
