Here’s the catch: to start fishing, you'll need a fishing rod and some bait/tackle, conveniently sold by none other than Simon the Fisherman.
The crucial part is: you won’t catch any fish unless you have at least 5 bait items. We tried with just one Worm and came up empty-handed. It was only after having 5 Worms in our inventory that we started catching aquatic creatures. We suggest keeping the Worms in your hotbar to monitor your supply easily. Once you’re equipped, you're ready for the next step.
How to catch fish in Rune Slayer
Hold M1 to cast your line into a body of water (the pier next to Simon the Fisherman is a great spot).
Now, keep an eye on the bobber. When you see one or two ripples, click M1 again to reel in your catch. It's that simple.
Be aware, this method doesn’t guarantee a catch every time. Often, you won’t catch anything, and other times, you might pull up junk. The good news is Simon counts junk as a "fish" (hence the earlier quotation marks).
So, cast your line, wait for the ripples, hit M1, and reel in anything five times. We managed to catch only two actual fish, with the rest being Old Cups.
