Unlock Lasher, a Powerful New Card in Marvel Snap!

The Marvel Rivals season in Marvel Snap is winding down, but a freebie from October's We Are Venom season remains: Lasher, obtainable through the High Voltage game mode. Is this symbiote worth the effort? Let's find out.

Lasher's Abilities and Synergies

Lasher is a 2-cost, 2-power card with a potent ability: "Activate: Afflict an enemy card here with negative Power equal to this card’s Power." Essentially, he inflicts -2 power on an opponent's card unless boosted. This opens up exciting possibilities, especially when paired with buff cards.

Cards like Namora can significantly increase Lasher's power. With Namora, Lasher becomes a 7-power card, or even a 12-power (or 24-power with Wong or Odin), turning him into a devastating -14 or -24 power play. He synergizes particularly well with the season pass card, Galacta.

Remember, Lasher is an "Activate" card, so playing him by turn 5 maximizes his impact.

Optimal Lasher Decks

While Lasher's meta position is still evolving, he shines in buff-heavy decks, especially Silver Surfer decks. Here are some examples:

Deck 1 (Silver Surfer Focus):

Nova, Forge, Lasher, Okoye, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Nakia, Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Galacta. (Copyable list available from Untapped)

This deck features expensive Series 5 cards (Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, and Galacta). However, cards like Juggernaut or Polaris can replace some of these. Lasher serves as an excellent third target for Forge, often used with Brood or Sebastian Shaw. After playing Galacta on turn 4, Lasher becomes crucial for maximizing buff potential. A 2-cost, 5-power Lasher (boosted by Galacta) inflicting -5 power is effectively a 10-power card.

Deck 2 (Affliction and Buff Synergy):

Agony, Zabu, Lasher, Psylocke, Hulk Buster, Jeff!, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, Namora. (Copyable list available from Untapped)

This deck is also expensive, requiring several Series 5 cards (Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, and Namora). Jeff! can be substituted with Nightcrawler. This deck focuses on using Galacta, Gwenpool, and Namora to boost cards like Lasher and Scarlet Spider, then activating their abilities to spread power. Zabu and Psylocke help play higher-cost cards early.

Is the Grind Worth It?

In the increasingly expensive landscape of Marvel Snap, Lasher is a worthwhile acquisition if you have the time to grind High Voltage. The mode offers various rewards before unlocking Lasher, making the effort worthwhile. While not a guaranteed meta staple, his potential in several strong decks makes him a valuable addition.
