Marvel Snap Blocked in US Over TikTok Restrictions

Developed by Second Dinner, a studio based in California, and published by Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary, *Marvel Snap* faced an unexpected ban alongside other apps like CapCut and Lemon8. On January 18, 2025, the game's availability was abruptly discontinued on iOS and Android platforms, leaving many players frustrated with authorization issues. However, PC users can still access the game via Steam. The developers at Second Dinner were taken aback by the incident and are actively working to bring the game back online. In an official statement on Platform X, they reassured players:

"*Marvel Snap* is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress."

A significant point of contention is the lack of warning given to players, who continued to spend money on in-game purchases unaware of the impending lockout. While *Marvel Snap* and other ByteDance apps faced restrictions, not all were affected. Games like *Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary* and *Earth: Revival - Deep Underground* remain playable.

In the midst of these challenges, *Marvel Snap* recently introduced a new ongoing card, Moonstone, which could shake up the game's meta. As part of the Ongoing archetype, Moonstone is a 4-cost, 6-power card that can replicate the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. Given the current pool of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which typically boost power, Moonstone's ability to gain these effects for free could significantly elevate her status in the game.
