NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh and exciting for its players through regular updates. The development team plans to roll out a new update approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes each quarter. This approach ensures that players always have something new to explore when they return to the game.
In a recent interview, game director Guangyun Chen explained that each seasonal update is divided into two phases. The first half of the season introduces one new hero, while the second half brings in another. This strategy keeps both the audience and players engaged throughout the season.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also feature updates in the form of new maps, storylines, and objectives. Characters like Blade, who is not yet playable, and Altron, who has been revealed through leaks, are among the heroes already introduced. Recently, the entire Fantastic Four team was also announced, adding to the anticipation and excitement.
According to the Chinese publication GameLook, Marvel Rivals has generated approximately $100 million globally, with significant contributions from the Chinese market. Marvel, a dominant force in the film industry, has successfully ventured into the gaming sector with this title.
Marvel Rivals has effectively filled a gap in the game-service genre, particularly after the less successful Avengers by Square Enix. The NetEase studio has delivered a high-quality heroic shooter featuring a roster of compelling characters, which has been well-received since its launch.
