The French studio Don't Nod, renowned for Life is Strange, has launched the inaugural chapter of its new narrative adventure. Players can now experience Tape 1, with Tape 2 scheduled for a free release to all owners on April 15.
Initially unveiled in 2023, the game follows a tight-knit group of friends who were mysteriously separated during the summer of 1995. Twenty-seven years later, the shadows of that long-ago summer resurface, unleashing unforeseen and terrifying repercussions.
Inspired by works like It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the title expertly weaves together nostalgia and psychological suspense. The developers have structured the experience into two distinct episodes: Bloom and Rage. Starting today, February 18, only the first chapter of this unsettling story is accessible.
The concluding segment, internally dubbed "The Tape," is now confirmed for an April 15 release. While originally planned for March, the launch was postponed to allow for additional refinements.
Critics have now published their reviews. According to OpenCritic, the game has earned a respectable average score of 74 out of 100, indicating a strong debut for this compelling thriller.
