Konami fuels speculation about a potential Metal Gear Solid 4 remake and next-gen ports, possibly as part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami Hints at MGS4 Remake for Next-Gen Consoles
MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 May Include Metal Gear Solid 4
Konami producer Noriaki Okamura recently teased the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots remake within MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, alluding to its potential release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While acknowledging the significant fan interest, Okamura remained coy about concrete details, stating that Konami is still internally evaluating the future of the series.
"We're aware of the interest surrounding MGS4," Okamura told IGN. "With Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3, you might be able to draw your own conclusions! We're focusing on the series' future direction. More information will be shared later."
The possibility of an MGS4 remake has been a topic of much discussion, particularly given its PS3 exclusivity. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms, has only amplified this speculation.
Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, further fueling rumors of their inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2. IGN corroborated these reports, suggesting these titles are likely candidates. However, official confirmation from Konami remains pending.
David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, added to the buzz last November with a social media hint at his involvement in a project seemingly connected to MGS4. Despite the mounting speculation, Konami has yet to officially confirm any plans for an MGS4 remake or its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2.
