NetEase Games has issued a ban on players using keyboard and mouse adapters with Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The company cites unfair competitive advantages gained through increased control precision and aiming assistance retention as the reason for the ban.
Adapters such as XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, are specifically targeted. This practice provides a significant edge, particularly in competitive modes with auto-aim enabled.
NetEase's statement clarifies their stance: "We classify adapters as devices or software that mimic gamepad functionality using keyboard and mouse input. This creates an uneven playing field, especially within competitive gameplay." The company employs sophisticated detection technology to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions upon detection.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While less noticeable at lower ping levels, a jump to 150ms from a typical 90ms can severely impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Currently, players are advised to await a game patch and experiment to find the optimal FPS/ping balance. Some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary workaround, a strategy that may contrast with typical high-FPS preferences in other games.
