The excitement is real with the new GTA 6 trailer dropping, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. In the meantime, let's take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and rank all the Rockstar games we've loved over the years for some fun.
Rockstar has been a powerhouse in gaming since 1998, churning out over 30 titles and giving us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? Just to be clear, you won't find games like LA Noire or Max Payne 2 on this list, as we're focusing solely on games developed by Rockstar, not just published by them. I've taken a stab at ranking them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list below:
Red Dead Redemption 2 easily clinches the S-tier spot for me—it's my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I've also got a soft spot for Max Payne 3 and its bullet-time ballet, not to mention GTA San Andreas, which I played way too young. At the bottom of the barrel in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—titles that nobody in their right mind would want to revisit.
Don't agree with my rankings? Think Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
