Get ready for high-octane racing! Nintendo has just announced the addition of two classic F-Zero GBA games to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack!
F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend Speed Onto Switch Online
Launching October 11, 2024
Nintendo's announcement brings the exhilarating speed of F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-only F-Zero Climax to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, starting October 11th.
The F-Zero franchise, a futuristic racing series that debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990), is renowned for its groundbreaking graphics and intense gameplay. Its influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA. F-Zero titles consistently pushed the boundaries of console technology, earning a reputation as some of the fastest racing games on SNES and beyond.
Like Nintendo's popular Mario Kart series, F-Zero challenges players to navigate treacherous tracks, outmaneuver opponents, and engage in thrilling machine-to-machine combat using their powerful "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
F-Zero: GP Legend first hit Japanese consoles in 2003, with a global release following in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, remained a region exclusive until now – a 19-year wait, broken only by last year's release of the Switch's F-Zero 99. In a past interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited Mario Kart's immense popularity as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus. This October 2024 Switch Online + Expansion Pack update gives subscribers access to both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend. Prepare for intense competition across Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials!
